Bluegrass Weekend

The Manjimup Bluegrass & OldTime Music Weekend is a music event all about making music, making friends and learning new skills from top tutors – and we need you to spread the word about this unique weekend! Apart from sharing the poster and Facebook posts, why not forward this email to your music networks, your students and friends and encourage them to come south for a good time making music?

Players of all levels are welcome and encouraged to attend the workshops. Content of the hands-on workshops will be aimed at people who are familiar with their instruments and comfortable with chord changes in the traditional Bluegrass keys.

This year’s feature band is the The High Street Drifters. This dynamic young band from Victoria and South Australia is making a name for itself at festivals and venues on the east coast. The band is made up of Justin Vilchez, mandolin, Gage Stead, double bass, Mae Traeger, fiddle and Daniel Watkins, guitar. Perth musician, Joey Gibson, will tutor in banjo.

This will be The High Street Drifters first visit to Western Australia and their Saturday concert at the Tall Timbers Brewery will be their only public performance in WA.

Nathan Carter is a British-born, Irish country music singer who across his career has had six #1 albums in Ireland; hosted his own national TV show; regularly sold out 10,000+ capacity arenas in Ireland; kept One Direction and Drake off the top of the charts with his cover of “Wagon Wheel”; and performed for Pope Francis in front of over 60,000 people!

Born in Liverpool and performing since the age of 4, Nathan’s love of Irish music led him to move to Ireland where he has established himself as one of the most popular artists in the country. His performance for the Pope’s welcoming ceremony in Dublin was watched by millions worldwide and his 2020 retrospective album “The Best Of The First Ten Years” lept straight to the top of the charts in his adopted homeland.

Nathan Carter returns to Australia for the first time since 2016 for three very special shows.
