JULY 2023 Brendon t and Born in Boots
Celebrates 25Years on Curtin FM
Brendon T Moylan has been with Curtin FM 100.1 for over 30 years as a volunteer, originally as an assistant on the “A Country Breakfast” show and for the past 25years as the presenter of ‘Born In Boots‘, a dedicated country music program heard every Saturday afternoon between 12 noon and 6pm. Brendon, his wife Janiece and their two sons Adam and Jason arrived in Perth almost 40years ago where Brendon began a career in real estate working in the Victoria Park area and later opened his own office in Forrestfield. Then in 1994 life changed dramatically when Brendon was seriously injured in a freak accident which necessitated a number of back operations that left Brendon with very little movement or feeling in both his legs. He would spend many months in a wheelchair and recuperating in Shenton Park Hospital where he had to be taught how to walk again.
Naturally his business suffered but it did allow Brendon a lot of time to think and he quickly came to the realization that one’s life can change in an instant, so he decided it was time to follow a dream he had harbored for many, many years of getting involved in radio and music. Hence when the opportunity to assist on the Breakfast program at 6NR came up, Brendon could not get to Curtin Radio (then 6NR) quick enough. Not long after completing the ‘on air’ course at Curtin Brendon was offered the position of hosting the Saturday morning program Born in Boots, a show that had been established for 6NR’s country music listeners after the demise of “A Country Breakfast”.
For as long as Janiece can remember Brendon has had a strong passion for country music and when Janiece became involved in the program some six months later, the dream was complete. Today Janiece helps Brendon on his show, and is the friendly voice heard when listeners call in during the program. Now into its twenty fifth year, Born in Boots is Perth’s most popular local country music program and is respected throughout the country music industry right across Australia.
In 2017 Brendon was inducted into the Country Music DJ Hall Of Fame in Tamworth
